Privacy Policy

Green Light Money Services Inc.

1. Introduction

Green Light Money Services Inc. (“Green Light Money,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal information you share with us.

We are an independent business financing advisor based in Canada. To help you explore loans, grants, government programs, private capital and related services, we necessarily handle sensitive personal and business information. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices available to you.

This policy is written to align with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy legislation.

By using our website, submitting a form, or engaging our services, you agree to the practices described below.

2. Scope of This Policy

This policy applies to:

  • Our website and any subdomains we operate
  • Online forms, calculators, assessments and chat tools we provide
  • Communication with us by phone, email, SMS, or messaging apps
  • Information collected in the course of providing advisory or brokerage services

This policy does not apply to third-party websites, lender portals, or government application systems that you may be directed to. Those organizations maintain their own privacy policies, and we encourage you to review them.

3.4 Information about third parties

If you provide us with information about another person — for example, a co-owner, partner, guarantor or accountant — you confirm that you have the authority to do so and that they have consented to us collecting, using and disclosing that information for the purposes described in this policy.

4. How We Collect Information

We collect information:

  • Directly from you, through forms, calls, emails, meetings and document uploads
  • Automatically, through cookies and analytics tools when you use our website
  • From credit bureaus and reporting agencies, with your consent
  • From lenders, funders and program administrators in the course of processing your file
  • From publicly available sources, such as corporate registries and government databases
  • From referral partners, where you have been introduced to us

5. Why We Collect and Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Assess your eligibility for financing, grants and government programs
  • Prepare, package and submit applications on your behalf
  • Compare funding options and recommend a financing strategy
  • Verify your identity and the accuracy of the information provided
  • Communicate with you about your file, including status updates and requests for documents
  • Respond to inquiries submitted through our website or by phone
  • Provide accounting, bookkeeping and reporting services where you have engaged us to do so
  • Comply with legal, regulatory, anti-money-laundering and record-keeping obligations
  • Improve our website, services and marketing
  • Send you newsletters, program updates and offers, where you have consented to receive them

We do not sell your personal information.

6. Consent

We collect, use and disclose your personal information with your knowledge and consent, except where the law permits or requires otherwise.

  • Express consent is obtained for sensitive activities, such as credit checks or the submission of your file to a lender.
  • Implied consent may apply where the purpose is obvious — for example, when you email us a question and we reply to that email address.

You may withdraw your consent at any time, subject to legal and contractual restrictions and reasonable notice. Please note that withdrawing consent may make it impossible for us to continue advising you or to advance an application already in progress.

7. Credit Checks

With your express authorization, we or our funding partners may obtain a credit report from a Canadian credit reporting agency, including Equifax Canada and TransUnion Canada.

Depending on the stage of your file and the requirements of the lender, this may be a soft inquiry (which does not affect your credit score) or a hard inquiry (which may affect it). We will tell you which type of inquiry is being made before it occurs, wherever we are in a position to do so.

8. Sharing and Disclosure

To do our job, we must share your information with organizations that can actually provide funding. We may disclose your information to:

  • Lenders, banks, credit unions, alternative funders and private capital providers we approach on your behalf
  • Government agencies and program administrators, where you are applying for a grant, subsidy, tax credit or government-backed loan
  • Credit reporting agencies, as described above
  • Professional advisors — accountants, appraisers, legal counsel and insurers — where relevant to your file
  • Service providers who support our operations, such as CRM platforms, document storage, email delivery, analytics and IT support
  • Referral partners, where you were introduced to us and you have consented to us reporting on the outcome
  • Purchasers or successors, in the event of a merger, acquisition or sale of business assets
  • Law enforcement, regulators or courts, where required or permitted by law

We share only the information reasonably necessary for the purpose at hand, and we require our service providers to protect your information under contract.

9. Information Stored or Processed Outside Canada

Some of our service providers store or process data outside of Canada, including in the United States. Where that is the case, your information may be subject to the laws of that jurisdiction and may be accessible to foreign courts, law enforcement and regulatory authorities.

We take reasonable steps to ensure that any provider handling your information offers a comparable level of protection. If you would like more detail about where your information is stored, contact our Privacy Officer using the details in Section 15.

10. Cookies and Analytics

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to keep the site functioning, remember your preferences, measure traffic and improve performance.

We may use third-party tools such as Google Analytics, Google Ads and Meta advertising pixels. These providers may set their own cookies and collect information about your visit in accordance with their own privacy policies.

You can disable or delete cookies through your browser settings. Doing so may affect the functionality of certain features, such as forms and calculators.

11. Marketing Communications

If you have consented to receive marketing communications, we may send you newsletters, funding program updates, deadline reminders and offers by email or SMS, in accordance with Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).

Every marketing message includes an unsubscribe link. You may also opt out by contacting us directly.

Opting out of marketing does not stop transactional and service messages related to an active file — for example, document requests, application status updates or scheduling confirmations.

12. Retention

We retain your personal information only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, or as required by law.

Financial and application records are generally retained for a minimum of seven years to satisfy tax, audit, regulatory and lender requirements. Once the retention period expires, information is securely destroyed, erased or anonymized.

13. Security

We maintain administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed to protect your information against loss, theft, unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use and modification. These include encrypted transmission, restricted access on a need-to-know basis, secure document storage and staff confidentiality obligations.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. While we work to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please avoid sending highly sensitive documents through unsecured channels; ask us for a secure upload link instead.

14. Your Rights

Subject to certain legal exceptions, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete
  • Withdraw consent to the further collection, use or disclosure of your information
  • Unsubscribe from marketing communications
  • Request deletion of information we are not required to retain
  • Ask questions about how your information is being handled

To exercise any of these rights, contact our Privacy Officer. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. We will respond within 30 days, or advise you if additional time is required.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca or 1-800-282-1376.
